A Butler woman, charged with overdosing on heroin while seven months pregnant, was formally arraigned Tuesday.
Kasey Dischman, 30, was charged with felony aggravated assault of an unborn child following her overdose in June.
Dischman was seven months pregnant at the time of the incident.
By overdosing she was forced to undergo a Caesarean section and deliver a baby girl prematurely, who required life support for at least a week and will suffer lasting injuries from her exposure to heroin, police said.
BUT Her attorney is saying the child is fine and is not suffering any affects from this incident, and is saying that her child is thriving.
