The South Butler School District and its teachers can’t come to a compromise.
Teachers rallied before Wednesday’s school board meeting and then packed inside with others all wishing for an end to this three-year stalemate.
By a unanimous vote, the school board on again voted to accept a compromise proposal made by a state labor board-appointed mediator. But, teachers’ union representative Brook Witt said there will not be a second vote by the union.
The union is expected to notify the board today of their final decision to reject the compromise proposal.
This all but means the teachers are going to walk, and a lot of people may disagree with me on this, BUT these teachers are fantastic, they have gone years without a contract and have been more than fair waiting for a new contract that clearly is not coming.
