Pens open season with banner ceremony tonight

The Pittsburgh Penguins will raise their fifth Stanley Cup banner before tonight’s season-opening game against the St. Louis Blues at PPG Paints Arena. Game time is just after 8pm, but fans are asked to be in their seats for the special pre-game ceremony and video by 7:45 pm.
The Pens begin the 2017-18 season having made the playoffs for 11 consecutive seasons, the longest streak in the NHL.
All fans in attendance at Wednesday’s game will receive gold “Driven for More” t-shirts, courtesy of PPG. “Driven for More” is the Penguins’ new marketing slogan for the 2017-18 season.

For fans attending the game, three trophies won by the Penguins last season – the Rocket Richard Trophy, the Conn Smythe Trophy, and the Prince of Wales Trophy – will be on display at the Hall of Champions behind section 114.
The Penguins have traded defenseman Derrick Pouliot to Vancouver in exchange for defenseman Andrey Pedan and a fourth-round draft pick in 2018. Pouliot is a former Penguins first-round draft pick, who has not been able to consistently crack a starting line-up. He was scheduled to be a scratch tonight. Pedan has a two-way contract, and will begin his season at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
