Seneca Valley grad wanted for Rape and Murder

Pittsburgh Police asked for the public’s assistance in locating Matthew Darby, 21, of Greensburg.

A Seneca Valley High School graduate is wanted on homicide charges in connection with the death of his 20-year-old ex-girlfriend.

Pittsburgh Police are investigating the death of Alina Sheykhet, 20, a University of Pittsburgh student who was found dead in her Oakland apartment Sunday.

Criminal homicide, felony burglary, flight to avoid apprehension, theft and possessing instruments of crime charges were filed against him Tuesday, according to online court records.

Sheykhet lost seven teeth in the attack, according to police. Her skull was fractured in two places and her nose was broken. Police noted that the autopsy indicated she’d been stabbed in the mouth.

Cell phone records showed Sheykhet’s cell phone, which could not be located, was somewhere in Irwin near the intersection of the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Route 30 — a route that witnesses told police Darby drove that day.

Anyone who can help the police locate Darby is asked to call the violent crime unit at 412-323-7800.
