Butler is having a overdose memorial to “honor” the “heroes” that overdosed- DISGUSTING a slap in the face to real heroes

I feel repulsed writing this story, this is disgusting! A slap in the face to victims of these losers that went and sucked off society for POOR CHOICES! To call someone a hero that overdosed is disgusting, a slap in the face to a real hero, you know, people like the military, firefighters and police. Ya those guys that actually put their lives on the line. Not cause havoc and die in the middle of the street!

What am I so angry about? Why am I rambling? this is why..

“Overdose Memorial Honors Those Lost To Addiction”

“A visual memorial illustrating and honoring the Butler County residents who died this year due to drug overdoses has been constructed on Main Street.

There have been 83 confirmed fatal overdoses in Butler County this year, and counting. Eighty three crosses have been set up in the former Worsley’s lot on Main Street, each adorned with a wreath and a purple ribbon signifying overdose awareness.

Project Manager Georgette Fleeger says she was personally inspired to create a memorial because she knows the sting of loss. She says she wants to honor these heroes that does of heroin overdoses. Fleeger owns a couple of recovery houses in Butler and knew two people who overdosed and died after leaving her house.

She also knows the sting of addiction as a person in recovery herself.”

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? HEROES??? THIS MAKES ME WANT TO BARF!

Let me post the definition of HONOR!

25564899_10101559761876966_1624105362_n

The next subject overdosed and died in front of her kids. Man that is an honor right?
Six of these people overdosed in public places where children could and almost certainly seen this garbage.
One fine person being honored overdosed in front of the Butler Middle School. I am telling ya, it must have been an honor to go out like that.
And there are so many more. A vast majority of these people that are being publicly honored were nothing more then criminals spending most of their adult lives in jail adding nothing to society. WHY does this behavior become an honor? Where the hell is my metal if that is the case?
Hell speaking of jail, one of the losers being honored overdosed inside of the Butler County Prison…so ya, teach our future to honor that right? That is just fine these days.
You know who is really irritated by this hot garbage? The people that were the victims of these honorable men and woman, the people that had their lives turned upside down, items stolen, checking accounts cleared out, robbed-I would think the working class does not find these people to honorable.
This is disgusting. Georgette Fleeger is all but a piece of shit to call these people that died due to their CHOICE of shoving a needle in their arm and doing nothing for society then calling them honorable. No, cops, firefighters, ems, military, that is honorable. Not a junk bag that ended up dead due to poor choices.

  4. Everyone has a right to their own opinions. Heroes, maybe not, but human beings, YES, yes they were. It should not matter how they died, they should still be remembered somehow.

We have a ton of MIA portraits on every street in Butler remembering tbose that fought for our country and lost their lives.

Who’s to say that some of those being remembered in that lot were not veteran’s? Did you know them personally to know if they were or weren’t?

I do agree that they should not be remembered as , but they should be remembered as someones mother, father, brother, sister, aunt , uncle, friend, loved one etc.

That is my view on it. That is my opinion on it. If you do not like it then thats your issue not mine. Let them rest in peace as you would any other person that has passed no matter how they passed. God Bless

    • Quite true, they were human beings whose major problem was being born into a society that dictates who does or does not qualify to exist. Over population and free will that promotes illicit sex with multiple partners. Parents uneducated and merely trying to survive.

  5. I get so sick of people feeling sorry for these losers, remember it was their choice to use drugs. Society is much better without them. If they had been properly raised maybe they wouldn’t be dead…….

    • If any of you should be accidently injected with a healthy; or unhealty amount of heroin and couldn’t live without it, like your boozers, and your Marijuana, and your high Blood Pressure Meds, or your psyche meds, and ect. ect. Who would give a damn for you, people Die hourly because someone else judged that person as unfit to be alive. When your turn comes, how many will stand around filming to facebook on how well you died. God knows Who you are, damn shame you know nothing about you creator. Physically or Spiritually. I’m all for mass extermination myself, Starting with the upper class and descending.

  7. First I think a comment about the fine upstanding Butler city state and sheriffs departments you know Butlers finest . God forbid they do something about the Heroin dealer’s which the dealers can be seen on every corner down on the flats. Hanging outside the Chestnut bar . Across from the Chestnut in the childrens playground . Included should be the dealers that hold up in their homes or apartments, god forbid my son or daughter die from an overdose. At that point I would hunt down the low life dealer responsible. Butler must have friggen money to burn , memorializing junkies, really?? I mean upgrade main street paint some store fronts whatever . But don’t honor these junkies, or memorialize them . They get narcan 4,5, or 6 times back to life. And who pays for the narcan?? We do either with higher taxes or our astronomical insurance premiums. These herion junkies steal from their parents, friends and businesses. I heard a story of a junkie who robbed Lowes blind he would steal small expensive items
only take them back for the cash. Jukies will do anything for money to buy heroin. In closing the Butler police all three entities need to wake up and do something about the heroin issue. It just occured to me why the police do nothing about the heroin problem . Because there is no money in it so they could care less. The money is in the wasted time and effort on the DUI’s especially the pot DUI’s what a joke.. Do u have any idea the number of DUI’s that go through the courthouse every year ?? I shrug at thought. Im sure its hundreds of thousands every year.

  9. I think she definitely worded what she wanted to do poorly. Maybe the idea of showing the public with crosses as a scare tactic is a better way. Also making the families of the people who died should remembered, speaking as I am one that tried to save a loved one before. These ppl are the heroes that should be recognized.

  10. That is not a memorial to the victims of the disease . It is an eye opener that it is part of our community . And we need to help fight . Seeing all those crossesade me sick . Our young people need help fighting . I know they need to want to fight. But we need to be there when they are ready . I commend the group that put it up . And by the way drug dealers can in many colors . We can win this war !!!!!

  19. You ppl are sick. There are more miltary veterans that overdosed than you know. Back in the day, Vicodin was the remedy for everything said the VA. Which they naturally became addicted. Now do you still the same? If so, you don’t want to become aware of maybe a way you can assist instead of bashing them
Bless the families of the deceased addict.

  20. You just don’t know what it is like to lose someone to an overdose. Just because someone died from drugs does not make them a terrible person and does not mean they do not deserved to be remembered. This memorial is more for the family of the people who passed because they are the ones who really suffered.

I don’t believe anyone is not empathetic to a families loss of a loved one. I feel the disgust festers from knowing these folks were leaching on our publics funds. Threatening our publics safety and so forth. I’m certain there are plenty of mellow junkies that would not hurt a sole due to their nature and up bringing. Unfortunately it takes only one bad story to make the news and their is a blanketed opinion for all. Its the nature of the beast.
So as opposed and repulsed as I am to this memorial I would be more than willing to help fund a permanent site with the names of each dead abuser who held a job and paid taxes and funded their addiction while also being productive. Who never stole from friends, family, stores, vehicles or others dwellings. Furthermore I will extend an offer to any or all of these self reliant junkies to reach out to me for whatever they may need so long as they can prove to me that they go to work everyday. They pay their bills first and buy their dope with their disposable cash and their not living in the Moms basement.
In the meantime the ones who have leached shall have their cross and wreath removed!
    DEAL?

  25. Several months ago we felt sorry for a girl with children and pregnant who Butler Catholic Charities contacted us regarding renting her a place. When meeting her she appeared to be in recovery. We felt compassion and BCC paid a few months rent for her. She ended up moving 2 guys in and never paid a dime to us. They lived in the house for 6 months totally free. I had to legally evict them The house is trashed and we need several thousand dollars in repairs. With the legal fees and time I am looking at over $10,000 and the house in not habitable. I really don’t care if the three of them end up with a memorial there. If so I expect to be in magistrate court for personally urinating on their memorial. I have 0 compassion for users, addicts, victims how ever you care to define them. I also found later they had run ins with CYS and we’re friends with the garbage that murdered Bently. Yeah that’s the kind of people that memorial is for.
Remove the park, have Vogels drop a dumpster there and when there is an OD, toss the body in the dumpster. Let the buzzards finish the job.
