Walmart announces new starting pay of $11.00 per hour for new hires

Walmart announcement today shocked many as the retail giant said its raising its minimum wage  and will be handing out bonus payments to associates.

The retail company said the wage hike — $11 an hour — would roll out in February. Employees are also getting a one-time bonus of up to $1,000.

“Today, we are building on investments we’ve been making in associates, in their wages and skills development,” Walmart president and CEO Doug McMillon said in a news release. “It’s our people who make the difference and we appreciate how they work hard to make every day easier for busy families.”

Walmart previously raised its living wage to $10.00 an hour in 2015.

  1. I just read a list of the closings and PA does not show any for this state at this time. I have my membership with COSTCO. I found better selection and pricing with them than SAM CLUB. THE basic membership is $55 but, for me, the place is worth the $10 more.
