There is a connection between mental health, addiction and trauma.
More often than not, those struggling with continued use have substantial trauma which has affected their mental health which in turn, pushes them to use mood altering substances to get through their day.
In order for healing and successful treatment, one must look at all aspects of the person and treat their needs accordingly.
Sometimes it is unclear what came first…trauma, mental health then addiction? Mental health, addiction, then trauma? Everyone has their own story and their own unique needs.
We must remember that all branches of the tree must be taken care of if we want the whole tree to flourish.
Recovery is possible! One “branch” at a time.
Experts are now saying mind body and soul are all part of the process.
