William Betcher, 57, of Butler Township was charged with illegally trying to buy a gun last year at Rural King.
Police say Betcher provided false information on his background check application April 23 when he attempted to purchase a .380-caliber pistol at the Rural King at Clearview Mall.
When his information was entered into the Pennsylvania Instant Check system, an automated system by which gun dealers can determine if someone can legally buy a gun in the state, he was denied the purchase.
Betcher is charged with unlawfully attempting to buy a firearm, a felony, and making a false statement, a misdemeanor.
Betcher is employed at Big Lots, and is always a nice, helpful guy.
