U.S. Representative Lou Barletta- who hopes to replace U.S. Senator Bob Casey this November- met with voters in Butler County on Friday.
He talked to a crowd of about 50 people inside a diner on Main Street in downtown Butler late Friday morning. Several Butler County Republican leaders were there- including Commissioners Leslie Osche and Kim Geyer, Sheriff Mike Slupe and Butler Mayor Ben Smith.
Barletta believes Senator Bob Casey has been in office too long and has gotten stuff done- just not the right stuff.
“He’s given us Obamacare…he votes against the tax cuts. He’d rather have you send more of your money to Washington,” Barletta said Friday. “And he votes to support sanctuary cities.”
Sanctuary cities- and illegal immigration- really strike a cord with Barletta. As mayor of Hazelton, Pennsylvania, he took a case involving an illegal immigrant who allegedly murdered a Hazelton father to the Supreme Court.
Barletta aligns himself with President Donald Trump. He’s been endorsed by him- the president even tweeted about him in February.
